ENGLISH THYME
Latin name: Thymus vulgaris
USES & APPLICATIONS
Some people apply thyme directly to the skin for hoarseness (laryngitis), swollen tonsils (tonsillitis), sore mouth, and bad breath. Thyme can be added to soups or stir fries and even drunk as a tea. Thyme is packed with vitamin C and is also a good source of vitamin A.
GROWING & HARVESTING
English thyme loves dry conditions so put your thyme in a potting mix with extra sand and good drainage to avoid root rot. Watch for overwatering and leave out of rain. Feed your thyme some organic compost every two months and keep harvesting from the top for new shoots to appear.
